Rosemary Lee
Artist Biography
Rosemary Lee is a recent graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her interdisciplinary installations blend a background in painting and drawing with her emphasis in fiber and material studies. Strongly influenced by her travels, she suspends specific places and events in time, recreating them from research and recollection. Filling in the gaps between memory and reality, she makes the case for the inconsistency of experience.
Her most recent work, Natural Deviations, is based on the otherworldly quality she found in visiting Iceland. Taking influence from the cultural surge of music and art in Reykjavik, and the various eco-systems across the island, she plays with notions of natural and unnatural, reality and unreality.
